I love a refreshing michelada cocktail on a hot day. If you haven’t tried one, it’s a cross between a Bloody Mary, a Caesar and a Red Eye. If you like any of these cocktails, I bet you’d love this one. If I was a betting woman. Speaking of betting, the first time I had this was in Las Vegas. Ding ding! And contrary to popular belief, it’s not a girly drink although it is very pretty. What it is though is thirst-quenching, tangy, spicy and ridiculously good. -bvox
Shiny Tomato Michelada
Makes one cocktail
3 oz tomato juice
4-5 drops hot sauce
4-5 drops soy sauce
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
juice of 1/2 lime
salt (I used lime salt from Vegas)
3 ice cubes
1 bottle Mexican beer (like Corona or another light beer)
Rub a slice of lime around rim of glass, then dip in a dish of salt and chili powder to coat the rim.
In a separate glass or cocktail shaker, mix together tomato juice, lime juice, hot sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, pinch of salt and ice. Pour into salt-rimmed glass, with extra ice if desired. I like to add the squeezed limes into the glass for more flavour. Top up with beer and garnish with a slice of lime. Slurp.
